Thick lining paper - skimming - advice

Options
Hi - after a bit of advice.

Just bought a house and the mrs wants all the walls skimmed and painted.

the walls all seem fine (no bumps holes etc.) and (as a man) was thinking of a cheaper alternative.

Would using thick lining paper look good - this would then be painted after. If I did use lining paper instead of skimming - what is the best paint/way to not show the lines where the paper meets (would like it looking as smooth as possible)

If the walls are fine just paint them. Skimming seems well OTT and expensive Make sure you have all but all of the old paste removed though.

If you want to line first then use 1000 grade minimum. In normally won't use less than 1200 and 1400 if the walls are bad. Don't use the 800 grade carp from the sheds. Its useless.

You can hide the seams by either filling or sanding prior to painting,
