I will be moving out of my home in January as I've sold & will be moving a few doors up into a mates rental property until I find a property.

I work from home & must be able to keep my work number for both moves.
I am currently on BT for Business line rental, calls are sky unlimited & broadband through SKY as well.

The property I will be renting has its line rental through SKY. I think if I move line rental to SKY & can transfer my work number to this house, I wont be able to transfer again when I move again. Is this rights.

Any suggestions as to what my best options are. I was thinking of paying for a new BT line or getting his line rental changed from SKY to BT, then transfer.

Your line juggling might work, but number proting can be fraught with danger, with the very real chance that the number could be lost through incompetence. If you keep things simple (single supplier) until you final changeover, you can then switch to whoever you like once the minimum term is reached.
  • It is entirely possible to port a BT number to and from Sky and there isn't a limit on the number of times you can do it, the only real problem is that by porting your number away the line upon which the number currently sits will cease. This won't be a problem if you're taking the number from your current property to your friend's line as you won't need the line any more, but when you want to take it away again to your new house their line will cease if you port it back out.

Perhaps a better way of doing it is to cease your line and put it on Remote Call Forwarding to divert calls to your friend's number. When you're in your new place you can have a new BT line installed, cease the RCF and renumber your line to your old number.
