Multi Bidder Scam

I use BidNip and the way it works is that the BidNip server looks at the price 10 seconds before the end of the auction and if the current price is less that your maximum (allowing for the current bid increment) it bids your maximum.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a bid retraction but I can't see how it would confuse the bidding software.
Pennylane has explained it pretty well.

War? Looks like a good discussion to me. :j

Ah, I see.pennylane99 wrote:some snipe programmes only update and check price every hour...so if within the last hour that snipe programme has run a check on your bid item, and sees that the item has got bids on for the amount over your snipe limit....it will not put forward your snipe.
Then the high bid is retracted, but the snipe programme wont update in time to counter that as it thinks the bid is over your limit.
I'm not sure if Bidnip works like that as I'm uncertain that I've ever actually seen a bid retraction.
It could well do.
Edit: Thinking about it, I rather suspect that Bidnip would not work like that since they charge by the bid rather than by a monthly subscription, so it would be absurd to throw away the chance of a unit of revenue for the sake of a single enquiry.0 -
You are worrying unnecessarily.ziffius wrote:How many people use these?
Personally I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. No way i'm entering my account details in to a 3rd party program or website.
I normally do my own sniping but I use Auction Sniper whenever I know I won’t be at my PC myself. I have won a few bargains with AS and it has been worth every penny so far. I feel no more at risk with them that any other reputable online organisation.
I have given my credit card details to 100+ on line retailers with precisely zero problems to date and I have no concerns with giving AS my details.
Just act sensibly online and you are unlikely to have a problem.

I don't know how many people use them but bidnip claim to have 64 servers working on bidding.ziffius wrote:How many people use these?

I'm a bit dubious about that because it always claims that all 64 are working and I'm quite surprised not to see one go down occasionally.
It does work extremely well (though not perfectly - it can miss a bit if fleabay is on a go-slow - but then so can a manual bidder).
It (or something like it) is absolutely essential if you make a lot of bids on foreign auctions that end during the night or whilst you're travelling.
Obviously if you want to use one, make sure it's been operating for a while and check google for any reports of anything suspicious.
Other than that they seem to be perfectly trustworthy. Googling doesn't find any complaints of dishonesty about snipe sites. (If only the same could be said for ebay and papal).0
