Food budget will go through the roof!!

I have cut aspartame and MSG out for myself as I have Fibromyalgia, the medicos say it doesn't affect me enough to get DLA or any thing, so I have to do as much as I can to keep the pain away to hold down the 3 jobs I have to keep the wolf from the door for me and my 2 kids. There is a definite link between these 2 additives and FMS, and I am not surprised to find it applies elsewhere. Best of luck, shop around for bargains, and keep us posted!0

chevalier wrote:I find that there is always an alternative. My son is allergic to milk. You can get free from bourbon biscuits (mega expensive). Alternatively you can get the ordinary ones from the co op (much cheaper!!!). By planning in advance you should be able to research where the best buys are and shop accordingly.
I hope that this works out for you. One thing though, could you and OH each 'normal' types of food and just the boys have the special diet?

Most bourbon biscuits are vegan.0 -
chevalier wrote:It is really weird, but I find that the value version of things tend not to have milk in eg Tesco value rich tea biscuits, no milk, branded version milk
Value range ginger biscuits have no milk either! The thing that really gets me down is Easter, I have yet to find CHILDS easter egg, (ie with toys in or something) that has no milk in it. Don't get me wrong, he enjoyed the bitter chocolate one we got last year a lot, but I would like to get him a more child like one!
As someone else has mentioned, you could make your own using moulds. However Kinnerton do a child's vegan one, but I don't think it's available in all shops. You could contact them, they are very helpful. I know they do a special vegan advent calendar which you have to pre-order (they only make what has been ordered).0 -
fruitycar wrote:Sorry to continue the hijack, but have you thought of buying Easter egg moulds and making your own? Then you can put a quality toy in a quality egg, very personal.
sorry to hijack again, but fruity that is an ACE idea:T . Had never thought of that,
off to ebay to see if I can find any...

Just wondered if there are any charities that might fund treatment, or part of it?

There is also a website - dietary needs direct - which might be worth a look for any goodies.0
