Food budget will go through the roof!!

I find that there is always an alternative. My son is allergic to milk. You can get free from bourbon biscuits (mega expensive). Alternatively you can get the ordinary ones from the co op (much cheaper!!!). By planning in advance you should be able to research where the best buys are and shop accordingly.
I hope that this works out for you. One thing though, could you and OH each 'normal' types of food and just the boys have the special diet?

Wishing you all the luck in the world.
Hope it turns out as you want.
The good thing is that you have already come such a long way on your debt free journey & three years is not too long for the loan to be finished

Hello JD. Just stopping by to wish you luck with everything.
I am sure things will sky rocket at first but....with time, your newly attuned eye for certain detail will pick up on cheaper things/places to shop for goods so, the near future will probably be worst case scenario.
As you've said to me before.....keep the faith hon.

It is really weird, but I find that the value version of things tend not to have milk in eg Tesco value rich tea biscuits, no milk, branded version milk
Value range ginger biscuits have no milk either! The thing that really gets me down is Easter, I have yet to find CHILDS easter egg, (ie with toys in or something) that has no milk in it. Don't get me wrong, he enjoyed the bitter chocolate one we got last year a lot, but I would like to get him a more child like one!
The other thing I tend to do is go to a good butcher for processed meat. Eg burgers, ham etc. My local one got a bit offended when I asked him if there was milk in it. And the meat tends to be better quality too, so less wastage. It never ceases to amaze people that there are milk proteins in a lot of processed meats. And why it has to be in baked beans is beyond me
!
Hope this helps and sorry to hijack the thread!

As someone said before Lidl do stock Organic fruit and veg as do Aldi. Aldi also do some gf products at a fraction of the bigger supermarkets.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Good luck JD:D
I hope the autism improves.
The way Im reading it though, is that the diet is not going to be too costly but the treatment will be and this wont be funded on the NHS. So you wont be able to make cut backs to this.

Sorry to continue the hijack, but have you thought of buying Easter egg moulds and making your own? Then you can put a quality toy in a quality egg, very personal.0 -
hello guys...thanks for all your feedback from everyone who posted suggestions...wonderful:)
toto - according to DAN! protocol, no one with autism is too old to be helped by this treatment, and IMHO if it even improved my sons life by 10% it would be a miracle in itself (PM me if youd like more info or put "mercury autism" into google).
PP - Unfortunately there are no ways to cut back for the cost of the treatments:(
again, many thanks all
