Unable to use tickets

I know there is nothing I can do but feeling a little upset. My son has been saving and bought a package theatre deal for my Christmas present, i.e. to see a show and stay in a hotel overnight with which I was thrilled. Unfortunately he did not realise I saw the same show four weeks ago and am unable to manage the night he has booked for the hotel. I contacted the the theatre bookings company and they advise there is nothing to be done. I just feel awful that my son's hard earned money has been totally wasted. Giving the tickets away, even if I can find anyone able to go at such short notice, apparently will be a problem due to the name change. Why is there no flexibility at all when tickets are purchased as a gift?

would they check names at a theatre? or was it the hotel you meant?0

Thankyou. As it is a package, the hotel is the issue.0

try posting on one of the other forums which gets more viewers - I'm sure there must be something you can do. if the hotel is pre-paid could whoever you give it to not pretend to be you? I really hope you get a solution - I hate wasting money0

Most travel books are non flexible. Can you not give it to a friend? One thing not to do is sell it on - any damage or expenses incurred will come back to you.0

What show is it for and what dates? People might be interested in it on here.0

Hi there I am just searching for a package for me and my partner and came across your forum. I have given tickets and even hotel bookings from friends in the past. Hotels are businesses and so long as they are paid do not usually mind who is paying. If you are interested in selling them I would definitely be interested. I do sympathise with you on not being able to use the present but at least this way you could book an alternative. Even if you dont consider my offer please do give them/sell them to friends rather than waste them.
