EDF Gas Bill Setup Beyond a Joke

Signed up for EDF fixed 2014 back in June, electric supply started on 7th july, gas supply started on 22nd august.

No problem with electric billing.

The gas contract on MyAccount - Contract Tracker is stuck with the following message

Nearly There - Your contract is almost registered. There are just a few meter reading details we need to sort out. If you haven’t heard from us already, we’ll be in touch soon about these. Not long now.

I've been paying c. £100 a month on a DD and am now almost £500 in credit.
I have made numerous phone calls and emailed customer about this and the best response i've had so far is "sorry, we know its broken. the IT dept are looking into it".

Is there anything else i can do? As although i'm sure i have enough credit to cover my bill, its an uncertainty that i don't need.

thx.

I'm not condoning the uselessness of the Edf "dysfunctional" billing system but under the tariff Terms and Conditions you are only "guaranteed" an annual bill.

I would say "keep calm" and enjoy your very competitive tariff. Take regular meter readings and work out yourself using a comparison website what your approximate balance is. If you want to pay more/less each month that is something Edf doesn't protest much about :D. A "dysfunctional" billing system cuts more than one way.

It's guaranteed is it? Then in the next 17 days my parents should receive one.

What I was said was "guaranteed". Understated irony. The exact words are "5a We will provide you with a bill or statement (which will show you a breakdown of our charges) at least once a year..."

Your parents might be advised to keep quiet as under the Billing Code any unbilled energy supplied over 12 months prior cannot be billed, so potentially a month by month saving:).
  • Is the gas supplied by an Independent Gas Transporter? From my experience this can result in a switch taking up to 3 months to complete, even with no objections from the withdrawing supplier.

As Jalexa says though, I'd keep shtum for now! :)
