Won't power - What won't you do in 2012?.

Many experts talk about will power on your journey to a debt free future but most savvy players know it's more about won't power.
What are the cash guzzling activities, purchases or practices that you will be refraining from in 2012.
I'll start:-
I won't make a single purchase using a credit or even a debit card it's cold hard cash every time.
I won't make any impulse purchases. I'll make a note of the item in my notebook and go back for it in a few days if I still want it.
I won't make a mobile phone call when a text message will suffice.
I won't own a rapidly depreciating, cash guzzling lump of metal, plastic and glass otherwise known as a car. I will use my Yamaha Nouvo scooter for personal transportation and hire a car when I absolutely need to.
I won't use the aforementioned scooter and will walk if the journey is less than a mile (time permitting).
I won't buy any books (my major indulgence in 2011). I now have enough reading material for the whole of 2012 without adding to it.
I won't buy single items of durable goods where cheaper unit prices are availible in multipacks.
I won't buy lunch at work. Packed lunch for me every time.
I won't drink more than a single beer when watching live football games from the UK here in Thailand. If I sip it I can watch the whole match for less than the equivilent of two pounds.
I won't buy any new cothes - I have sufficient.
I won't buy a new TV, computer or cell phone whatever new fangled models manufacturers try to tempt me with.
I won't buy any lottery tickets.

I won't argue with my wife as women are always right and they can work the washer machine and can burn my dinner.
I won't tell the government about my millions because they have enough of their own.
I won't annoy my wife on her period unless I'm suicidal.
I won't forget her birthday or our anniversary as that stare of death is frightening and she has knives and I want to wake up in the morning
I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -
- I won't gamble
- I won't buy any more clothes for myself (well only maybe under wear)

Good ideas!
I won't buy loads of food in the weekly shop or on impulse, instead I will meal-plan and shift a few lbs as well as pounds!
I won't buy any more clothes for the kids - they have more stuff than me!
I won't spend my time worrying about things that are out of my control anyway.
I won't worry about my new job, instead take each day at a time and learn and enjoy it as I go.
I won't forget to save each month for xmas, birthdays, contingency fund, holidays etc etc etc,
I won't go to the sales and spend money I don't have on stuff I don't need!
I won't forget to remember the needs of my family, my kids and my husband. This year I want to focus on us as a family more.
That's about it for now!0 -
- I wont buy loads of junk and bits for the children that they dont need
- I wont spend my life nipping into Tesco and then spending £20.
- I wont take out more money than the £30 spends I have budgeted for a week
- I wont let my £366 in 366 days challenge lapse.
- I wont just pay the minimum payments on my debts but at least 10% more each month.
- I wont bid/buy on anything on ebay I dont need.

Great thread but it might take a lot of will power to stick to our won't lists

Great thread!
In 2012 i wont:
-take more money out of the bank than i need to
-go food shopping without a list (and having done meal plans for the week)
-leave christmas shopping money to be found in September (instead, i plan to save a set amount every month)
-waste money on cheap clothes that wont last
-go on eBay unless there is something specific that i need0 -
Ok some of these I already do:
I wont use the house phone as I get 200 free minutes on my mobile
I wont just grab things for DD and DS's birthdays just so they have loads to open
I wont buy masses of food at christmas, whats the point the shops are open again boxing day
I wont let DH take control of our finances
(as much as I love him . . . well hes rubbish at it)
I wont hold on to any items we dont use anymore, thats what ebay is for :rotfl:
I wont buy things just because they are reduced!!
I wont wait till DS hands me a trip letter to start saving for him to go

I won't keep saying 'yes' to my daughter, but instead I shall remind myself that saying no will probably be of more value to her in the long term.:T
The last indulgence was saxaphone lessons! She has now been attending for two months and still can hardly get a note out of it! £18.50 a month through school.:rotfl:LBM August 2011. DFD somewhere post [STRIKE]2025[/STRIKE]2022

I won't:
-buy things I don't need
-buy things just because they're reduced/on offer
-buy ready-made soups/sauces/meals when I can make them myself cheaper
-buy a takeaway because I can't be bothered to cook, I'll have a freezer stocked full of HM ready meals instead
-do enormous supermarket shops once a month and then do smaller ones every week. I'll shop once a week instead
-be tempted by catalogue offers unless I NEED clothes
-dip into my small change piggy bank until December 2012
-let DH beat me in our joint weight loss venture. I WILL lose more pounds than he does and win the £500
-stop reading MSE forums, I need the recipes tips, advice and encouragement if gives me0
