Help problems with All Saints Gift Card

Options
I purchased a gift card for the hubby for xmas... our nearest store is 45 mins away.. we travelled up to the store spent half an hour queing in the store to get to the till and the gift card wouldnt go through.

On checkin the manager said he could see the amount balance showing as 100 which is correct, however the card could not be accepted. He called the tech support team and they advised to contact Customer Service, who were closed!

After a good ten mins arguing and asking for his help he was completely inadeuqate and wouldnt do anything. Depsite sayin he could clearly see the card had a balance of 100 on it. I explained the all round trip would be 80 miles and for nothing and he was completely not interested and more interested in getting us out of the store and dealing with the queues.

I am going to call CS tomorrow when they re open. Any help or advice on when I call would be greatly appreciated I am going to be asking for compensation in the form of a gift card for the expenses travelling to the store when this is clearly their error.

Help

Thanks

Kelly

  • In all honesty, it might not have been his disinterest in helping but more the fact he COULDN'T help! Back in my retail days, for a comparibly sized company, if a giftcard wouldn't work in store then the ONLY people with any authority to move money round or alter the cards in any way were Head Office.

Imagine the logistical nightmare if stores were allowed to do it - money would go missing here there and everywhere!

You'll probably find that when CS come back to you they'll compensate you for the petrol costs with trekking to the store today as well - again, something people at store level can't do.

I had this with a gift card for new look - it had something to do with the settings on the till - the operator kept putting it in as gift card ( which you would!) but apparently according to the till supervisor it had to be entered as something else - I think, it went under credit account or something ( it was about 18 months ago) but as soon as the girl changed the payment method the card was accepted

I wonder if the store you visited was something similar? if it is any help- the gift card for new look was not purchased in the store - but at Clintons cards or somewhere similar- so it possibly wasn't recognised by the new look system.

I thought All Saints had gone bust.
