They did the normal thing when working out your wages - they took your last two months' payslips and worked out an average. There is nothing wrong with them doing that.
You haven't been following this, have you?
The point of the thread is they took my monthy wage and worked out my weekly wage from it, but their figures don't add up.
I got paid £528.23 for November, no tax or NI paid, and they say this is £128.23 per week, how did they arrive at that figure?
When I queried it they said they had taken Oct and Nov wages, added them together then divided by 2 to get my average monthly wage.
Doing that makes my average monthly wage £578.83, so what formula do they use to make £578.83 per month equal £128.23 per week?
That's all I want, the formula they use to turn my monthly wage into my weekly wage, once I have that I can work out how much HB I will get instead of waiting 3-4 weeks for them to send me a letter telling me how much I am getting.0 -

They will times by 12 (578.83x12) = £6541.86,then divide by 52weks =£133.57 - disregard £5 =128.57.The small dif may be due to the tax they think that you have been deducted?0 -

On the contrary, I followed every word, and gave you my advice based on the limited information you gave. I think 'thank you' might be the words you are looking for.geordie_joe wrote: »The point of the thread is they took my monthy wage and worked out my weekly wage from it, but their figures don't add up.
And the point of my answer was that that is a normal thing for them to do. If the figures don't quite add up, that could just as easily be because you haven't been precise about them as because they got them wrong (which they may have done for all I know).geordie_joe wrote: »I got paid £528.23 for November, no tax or NI paid, and they say this is £128.23 per week, how did they arrive at that figure?
By using October's net pay too.geordie_joe wrote: »When I queried it they said they had taken Oct and Nov wages, added them together then divided by 2 to get my average monthly wage.
Exactly. That is the normal procedure.geordie_joe wrote: »Doing that makes my average monthly wage £578.83, so what formula do they use to make £578.83 per month equal £128.23 per week?
They take your net monthly earnings for October and November, multiply the sum of the two months by 6 to get a yearly amount, then divide by 52 to get a weekly amount. If your average monthly wage for October and November by your calculations is £578.83, and your November income was £528.23, then you must have netted £629.43 in October. But then you told us the figure for October was 'nearer £580', remember? So you need to give us the correct information so that we can help, ok?geordie_joe wrote: »That's all I want, the formula they use to turn my monthly wage into my weekly wage, once I have that I can work out how much HB I will get instead of waiting 3-4 weeks for them to send me a letter telling me how much I am getting.
Well, that's what I tried to tell you. But I can only work with the figures you give me. Tell me what your gross salary for October was, along with a breakdown of all the deductions, and I'll tell you how they should have calculated it. Because I'm helpful like that, you see.0
