Perhaps you could phone Ryanair and see if everything is OK so far.

Your fears are based on the seller appearing to have a Latvian name. I am not sure what you expect anybody to do? Investigate it because it could be a crime?

If the bank does a chargeback and Ryanair cancels the vouchers I doubt they would leave it at that. Surely somebody would get in touch with you.

I think you're between a rock and a hard place, if you do nothing you risk having to pay much more to board the flight (RyanAir admin fees on top no doubt) or having it cancelled completely with all the expense that entails. If you contact RyanAir they will no doubt add an amendment fee if you ask to remove the voucher and pay by another method; or they will refuse to remove the voucher at all (saying it has already been redeemed)...

You cannot claim from the seller until it goes wrong... and then maybe it will be too late by then.

By the way, I would have been ever so suspicious when they offered to send me the tickets WITHOUT getting payment first... to me that shows he obviously got them for nothing (illegally most probably) thus he does not mind sending them out on the offchance I will pay.

I know I realise that niw but I was took in by the dact they said they got them in bulk for employee's which does seem a bit daft now i admit.
  • Rubbish, you were taken in by the fact it was half price.

If something is too good to be true it invariably is.

This, selling outside of Ebay, shouted SCAM from the start. I'd put money on you losing yours.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

I've read about this scam before.

They find a buyer for vouchers.
They use somebody elses card details and purchase vouchers and have them sent to you.
Receiving them and now not velieving it to be a scam you pay for them.
The card holder reports the transaction as unauthorised thus files a chargeback.
    Bank recovers money from retailer.
Retailer disables vouchers and if they have been used is where you come in.

If the flight is important i'd definately not "do nothing". It all depends how long it takes to card holder to notice the transaction and report it. Ryanair may suspect you of obtaining the vouchers fraudulently and give them reason to stop you flying/cancel the flights.

Cheers. The flight isn't vital, i've booked 2 nights in Rome as a xmad present for me and my wife and the hotel can be cancelled with no charge so i'm tempted to just walk away and take a loss on the £75. Tbh i don't think contacting Ryanair is worth it from the horror stories i've read about their customer service and call charges/admin fees, i think if i was going to do that i might as well just book the flights from scratch and forget the vouchers but that leaves me snother decision whether we cam afford it or not, i'd have to check the current cheapest price but on the day i think the flights would be way too much. If we did go to the airport and get turned away then it would mean coming back home i'm afraid so it's just a case of assessing the risk i suppose!

Obviously i was attracted to the fact they were half price that goes without saying doesn't it? Hence why i asked several questions and checked the ebay feedback for the vouchers they had already sold which at the time was positive.
  • Aren't Ryanair vouchers the ones with additional charges?

£150 of vouchers are for sale.

    £75 for the vouchers
    £74 credit card fee
    £1 postage ;)

It will probably cost you the seventy-five pounds to call them to find out either way. Especially as they will be in a bad mood, because they have had their other stream of ripping people off taken away from them.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Not yet they haven't. It's a proposal at the moment, not legislation/rules.

They'll find a workaround anyway - they've already said it's an Admin charge and not a CC charge. ;)

But they won't be able to get away with charging it, if you use another card, other than their "approved" method.
