Hi hoping someone can help im not my self on storage heaters but my mother is and its costing her a fortune to heat her 2 bed flat. Never having had them myself before i dont know how much they do cost but shes spending £10-12 a day on heating shes on a meter with one of those pens. How can i help her save money?
Shes now decided to turn the heaters off altogether because she cant afford to heat the place:( shes tried using one of those heaters that just heat you not the room and although they cost less there very bright and everyone is still very cold. so now shes trying one of those oil heaters that use electricity which is nice and warm but still costing a lot (noticed it cost £6 from 7pm till 11am even though wasnt on all night! ) Is there any such thing as cheap heating?? any sugestions would be grateful i dont know what tarrif shes on only that shes with EDF and on a meter she has tried price comparison sites for electric and says its not any different

Storage heating is cheap heating....You will need to check she is on the right tariff. It should be an E7 tariff. It should cost around 5p per kWh at night. Each storage heater will load up with about 20kWh worth of heat using the night rate and that should cost around £1 per heater per night. Managed well the cost is not that much more than gas central heating.
The most expensive form of heating is electric heating on an E7 tariff using the day rate. That's about 15p per kWh of heat.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
