I recieved a letter from southern electric earlier this year saying i had a faulty meter and they wanted to replace it, which they did. I have just recieved my electric bill and they have charged me £360 for the replacement meter, is this right?

They will not have charged you for the meter but what they think you have been undercharged by. Ask them for a breakdown of the charges. Have you perhaps had bills when the readings have not changed? If so how long has that been happening for?Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

i thought my electric bills have been a bit high as i don't live there very much, last time i didn#t have to pay anything as thesaid i had payed too much.They have put a break down of charges on the bill, and it says Total fromm previous bill -£19.62

as well as this i had my quartly bill which was £89.390 -
There is room for negotiation on the faulty meter charge. It'll take quite a bit to negotiate. It's basically haggling you offer £50 they'll come back with a better offer and you work from there until you are happy with the charge they will apply to the account. You do not have to accept £360 if you do not think that is right.:footie:

So, you need to ask for their breakdown of the estimate and the period over which it was incurred and work out for yourself how much you think you would have consumed. You need to take readings every week for a few weeks - and start your estimate in meter units [kWh] not in poundsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
