Ipod touch screen doesn't rotate

My son's ipod touch has stopped rotating. He has tried restoring it to no avail. Any clues please?

I can't be sure it's this but it's worth a try.

• From the Home screen double tap the Home button.You will have the App Manager bar appear at the bottom of the screen.
• Scroll to the left until you get to the Player Controls.
• On the left of the Player controls is a rotating arrow button, the Orientation Lock. If there is a picture of a padlock in the middle then the orientation is locked. To unlock just tap the button.
• Press the Home button once again to return to the Home Screen and close the App Manager bar.

Should add that a small version of the rotating arrow with padlock will appear near the battery level indicator if lock is on.

Thank you. I'm sure he's checked that but I'll make sure on the off chance. He's going to take it into the Apple store today to see if they can help.
