What happens next, jsa

My jsa contribution based is due to end on the 6th of February,my partner erns about £17,000 a year, but at the moment we re finding it very hard like many people to keep up with the bills,we don't get or qualify for rent or council tax help as my partner earns enough so the government says anyway, my question is when my jsa stops do I move onto some thing else or is that it, they ave put me on this work programme and I think that if I'm not getting any money why should I go there I do exactly the same thing by my self looking for work all they say is I want you to apply for 2/3 good jobs and afew crap ones ( there exeact words) so if I'm not getting any money should I just sign off and stop going to the work programme as I'm not gaining anything from it all I get is my stamp paid for me

Once your CB JSA finishes you'll not be entitled to IB JSA as you already know. Not sure about tax credits. Have you entered your details into a benefis calculator?

The JCP can continue to help and support you in your quest for work. They will also pay your NI stamp. Getting your stamp paid is very important and is still, effectively, free money, just not in your hand right now. You can, of course, choose to turn down such help and sign off.

You wont be put onto anything else. You arent entitlted to anything else
  • The work programme might help you with your written English - I know that this is a forum and not a university assignment, but your post is quite hard to read in places, as you have used little punctuation. This could then help you to obtain work in the future.

Somebody I know who attended the work programme had to prove their ability at English and maths. She had a level 2 certificate for English, but not for maths, so she had to attend lessons as part of the programme.

If you paid enough NI contributions during April 2009 - April 2011 you can sign off, claim nothing for 12 weeks and then if you are still unemployed reclaim and requalify for 6 months CBJSA.

This is because 2012 will be a new benefit year and 12 weeks will break your claim so when you reapply they will look at the new contribution period.

You can still look for work without signing on but not with help from the Jobcentre and you can still enrol on courses of your choice but you will not need to attend a work club.

Work clubs vary greatly and depend on the provider, some are not as helpful as they are made out to be and some are just dire.

It's not a work club that I attend, it's a work programme and they stick with you for 2 years and that's when they get paid but only if I'm in employment at th end of the 2 years, they make you apply for jobs that you are not suited to or do not have enough qualification's for,and if you dont jump when they say you get threatend with" if you don't do as we say you may/will get your benefits stopped" so this is he reason I ont want to carry on with the work programme and just want to know what will happen if I stop going because they can't stop my money after February because I won't be getting any

So you've answered your own question. In February you can stop going because you won't have any benefit to lose.
