Hi there. I'd like to join too. It's my first month and I'm going to guess at £380 as a start. I've just made a menu plan for the next week or so using things out of freezer and veg box which will come on tuesday. hopefully I'm going to be under this but have little in freezer. What do you guys do for packed lunches? My boys like ham but good ham is pricey - will gammon work?

    Thanks, amy

    Cowboymum £380

Gammon works a treat _ i have a huge lump roasting in the oven as we speak, which I'm about to smear with honey and mustard. We'll have it hot for dinner this evening and then cold. I will cube it like ham for a potato topped pie with chicken mushrooms and fresh cream and then use the rest for sandwiches - with cranberry sauce instead of pickle.... yum yum yum Sometimes leftovers are better than the original!!

    Happy New Year everyone.

Thanks for being so welcoming and supportive.

Had my first spend out of the Jan money today was going to do my main shop but ended up only getting essential bits for today and tomorrow - will either do a big shop tomorrow or Monday.

I emptied my sealed pot that I have saved in this year and had yippee it had £150 in, instead of spending it (as I usually would) I have put it into my bank and cleared my overdraft feels so good not being in the red going into 2012 with this account, just need to keep on top of this and focus on what I am spending and get my credit card balances down

Heres to a great 2012 everyone

Hi I lurked a bit this year, but as I'm moving into my first flat I thought I'd give it a try to keep costs down. So I'll declare £100 for January, and see how I go.

Question how do I edit my signature?

If you scroll to the top of the page there is a green bar going across with the headings Main Site then Forum then User CP - if you click on user CP it will take you to another page if you look down the column at the left hand side there is an edit signature option just click on it and type in the box what you want for your signature - you can preview it so you can see what it will look like - press save when you are happy with it

    Hope this helps

  • ....hoping you're all too busy celebrating to notice that I have another spend on my siggy.

Yes, I know I said I'd not go shopping until NEXT Friday, and only then for veges...BUT....

I was sale shopping for pressies for birthdays and Christmas next year (so organised it's untrue, and got some fab bargains!!!! but I digress :p) and deviated into M&S, where there were some whoopsies. So £20 ish later...and here I am highly embarrassed and desperately trying to fit yet more "stuff" in the overworked freezer.:o

So, I've updated my siggy with anticipated NSDs and No Car Use days for January, and the ONLY way I can possibly come in on budget now is to make sure I only spend £10 a week for the next 4 Fridays, and don't spend a penny any other day.

Somebody please slap me if you see me anywhere near a shop any other day.:rotfl:

It's still do-able....it is....it is....Guess what one of my new year's rezzas is :rotfl:

Happy New Year to you all.

    xxx
  • Declaring at £180 for January - went just over £200 in Dec but that was mostly due to having to go all over the place end of Dec and OH being entrusted with the shopping, which means I'm not sure of the final total and not sure I want to be!
    February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180
February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.50

I'm vegan and do the same for my meat-eating husband - snap up cooked meats when super-cheap and freeze for whenever he wants it [saves me begrudging the spend on meat, and having to cook it!]. I'm sure it'll be fine. Just, obviously, make sure it's properly defrosted before giving it to your dog, particularly if he's still off-colour. Hope he improves soon :)

    Thanks for the info!
Dog has made a miraculous recovery - he had a little bit of ham for lunch and some ham and rice for tea and has since been on two walks and is currently barking his head off at a taxi going up the street - he's better:rotfl:

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
Right have put my £100 in my grocery purse and am determined to use as little as possible this month.

I aim to beat my way through the food already stocked up and make a real dent in it. I am starting with all the little odd packs of leftovers in the freezer. Should be some suprises in there.

1st one for today is Gammon in parsley sauce with carrots and Brocolli, will bake a potato to go with it. Only about another 50 packs to go I think.
