  • Morning all, spent £12.01 in MrT's last night as I had to get a few bits and they had lots of whoopsies :o too good to miss out on ...stuff like 3 beef steaks for 89p !
A nsd for me today though and I have lots of meals planned for my slow cooker.

    DC xx
  • Hey all!

Lodger paid January's rent early because of Christmas, so grocery budget has been dipped into already, but we shouldn't need to actually use anything I've bought until January anyway so all's good.

Spent £53.50 on Asda delivery today - months worth of cat food in there.. oof.
£1.30 on reduced-by's in Tesco Express yesterday..
    £1.37 '' '' '' '' '' '' the day before...
And £8.25 in Asda on bargain reduced-by meat.

Grand total so far of - £64.42.

    Off to update my sig...
  • Ok first spend of the Jan target just over £10 (will update my sig when the transaction clears on my card) on some reduced items - sadly no to the tune of some of ur finds! - a big pack of diced beef for £3, I will split, dice into smaller bits & freeze this into 2 meals, some reduced milk, salad, 2 pack of mangos, a pack of mint which I made into pea & mint soup & froze a small portion of mint and have 2 portions of soup left.

Yesterday I went out with a friend for the day & she wanted to go for something to eat - she really wanted to and even offered to pay for me, however all I could see was I had some lo beef from boxing day which needed to be used up yesterday. Luckily we were given a couple of free pastries when we had a coffee and that starved off her starvation and I came home and made enchilladas - which were divine, everything in them was either lo, given to me by my mil, or reduced and they were delish!

Now I need to work out what I am doing with the other half a tub of sour cream...

Please can you put me down for £380 for January. If this goes well I'll try lowering by £10 each month.

Happy to declare the 2nd NSD in a row, should be able to do another 2 or 3 without too much bother :j
DH bought himself new boots in the sales online last night, he finally seems to be understanding the benefits of shopping 'properly', and was impressed when I used a cashback site before he ordered. Little by little ... ;)
    Debt free and saving :j

Dragged myself out of my sick bed this morning to go to Aldi for everything we need until next Sunday as I am trying to budget Monday to Sunday.

I was really pleased with everything I got in Aldi and only needed to pop to Mr S for calp0l, baby wash, steak and sauce for DH NYE dinner, halloumi and ricotta cheese for a new recipe as they didn't have any in Aldi. Only need half the tub, not sure what to do with the other half or if it will freeze.

Bought loads of fruit and salad and some things that will last ages like squash, handwash and spices and a 99p strudel that will do us 2 puddings.

Spent £46.39 which included £5.09 on DH steak:eek: and leaves a couple of £ if I need more milk or fruit.

If I can spend under £50, including the £12.95 on a veg box due next Friday, each week until the end of the challenge I may even hit my target:)

  • very pleased today - never usually find many food bargains but went to Ald* and L*dl today:
    Ald*
    2X 1.5kg free range chickens @ £2.50 ea.
    2 packs baking potatoes (4 ) @ 25p each
    carrots 39p
    parsnips 39p
8 pork sausages reduced to 49p
    pack 4 pork chops £1.85
    L*dl
branston baked beans 4 pack £1.00 (got 2)
    unsmoked bacon (14 slices) ££1.24 (got 2)

Not enough pork chops or sausages for the 5 of us but think I will slice up the chops for a stir fry to stretch it
and cut up the sausages and put with some pasta to stretch

Lets hope I can find more bargains as the months go on :)

  • Good Day All,

Finally got rid of OH as he had to go back to work today, that gave me the opportunity to pop to Mr A and see what sale stuff they had left, managed to get all my Xmas cards (45) and wrapping paper (10m) for next Christmas for £3.00 which I was pleased with, as well as a diary to keep myself organised not including these in my food spend however did write in my diary for December 1st not to buy Xmas cards and wrapping paper as I already have it, sure I will forget come Dec that I have some and where i have hidden them.

Had toad in the hole last night with left overs from the house, OH was OK about it, but I forgot to do gravy so it was a tad dry!

Got a big pot of Jamie Oliver's Chilli on the stove, its a favourite in our house, as it has so many veg / pulses in it that the 500g minced beef stretches us out to about 4 dinner portions and 4 lunch portions with some brown rice!

Whilst its cooking I have also cut up all the Xmas cards from this year to make tags for next year! Am on a roll.

Wishing you all a lovely day

    E x

After a month off (can't seem to budget anything in December) I would like to join in this month with a budget of £250. not sure how realistic this is as we usually spend loads more but have lots of food stored and debts that need to be paid.
My budget for this month will run from today to the 31st of Jan.
