Havent had time to read thread today so hope everyone is ok.
Stuck to the meal plan, used up lots of bits from the fridge, no money spend on groceries but did have to pay for haircuts.
Will probably dip into grocery budget tomorrow as we are taking children out to spend their Christmas money and this will only be tolerable (for me) if we include a visit to Costa.

Have extended meal plan onto end of next week to try and see what I might need to buy at shops on Wednesday.

I was determined to try and quit without stopping doing stuff so yesterday evening and today I had a drink and didn't have one at all. Looking at that £565 figure makes think though....whhyyyyyyyy have I spent that sort of money for so long!!

There is still a chance that it could go t*ts up though, so I will definately check into the quit kit for extra hints and tips - thanks again...kicking myself for not planning better. :o:p

Don't know who it was who recommended the Jamie Oliver 'good old chilli' but I made it yesterday and it was brilliant. All the family said it was really good and said could I make it again.
Not only that but because of the amount of veg in it I managed to feed 4 adults really huge portions and still have two good portions left to go in the freezer so the 500g mince went much further.
    I did make some changes to it as it wasn't spicy enough;
    Double the chilli powder
    doubled the cumin powder
added 1 pint of beef stock instead of water
thickened with some cornflour and water mix
oh and added a few chilli flakes
bunged in the slow cooker in the morning and was fantastic by the evening.

Also used up my Asda vouchers yesterday - £40 worth of meat,and3 huge pizzas - two freezers very full now.

Just realised as its my birthday today will have to take cakes to work tomorrow. think easier just to pop out and get some but might decide to bake later.

    Hello!

I know, not only am I new (though I have been lurking around for a while), but I'm late too! Can I join, pretty please!

Let me plead my case. We're just 7 days into the new year, and I've already spent:
    Tesco: £31.79
    Waitrose: £40.39

I am out of control!!! Plus, I have a freezer full of food! Can you please put me down for £120 and I'll have to learn some self-control for the rest of the month... Honestly, there's no excuse, there's only me to feed, after all! But I'm such a foodie and I walk around the supermarkets and get seduced by all the things I could make...

    Be gentle...

I'm with you Lula - Waitrose is just heaven to meander - which is why I am trying to keep out of there! My aim, this year, is to avoid Waitrose and Tesco as much as possible - and shop in Ald* and Lid* much more than I have done - that way I am not tempted as much!

    Happy birthday 123budget:beer:
Today should be a NSD day - store cupboard porridge for breakfast, hm ham and vegetable broth for lunch and roast lamb from the freezer for dinner with apple cake and custardfor afters.

The sun is shining here - hope that its the same everywhere xx
