bank giro credit

I opened a esaver on line saving account before xmas with santander.

there was nothing in the account when i opened it as i am waiting for money to transfer from post office into it, and only gave the post office the sort code and account number to transfer the money, the money has not transfer yet as i was told it would be the 28th which is fine, but i notice 2 days after i opened the esaver account with Santander that a bank giro credit of £35.68 was put in my account. i phoned the post office to see if they put that in as it was the wrong amount but they said no payments have been took out of my post office account,

i contacted Santander and they don't know who the money is from.

i am a bit worried now as no one knew the account number or sort code but only the post office, but money has been transfer into the account, if they put money in could they take money out?

should i close the account and open a new one?

Wait a few days to see if any more details come on the statement.
If not ask Santander for a copy of the transaction - this might be a paper voucher or electronic trail.
(Don't expect the person on the telephone to be able to tell you anymore than you know already - give them time to look into it)
