Hello all,
I'm looking for the best deal on a Landlords Gas Boiler Service Contract with CP12 Safety Certificate for this year. My British Gas Homecare200 is asking £267 (£22.28/month) this year and is creeping up. Any ideas please will be appreciated.
Many Thanks:money:

Does this include an annual service? I believe there are cheaper deals out there. Currently I am looking at an emergency cover product (with cover across the board, not just boiler), but will need to have a boiler service at each property separately. The price of this combined product, BTW, is just £69 per year.0 -
We dont bother with the service package, just pay the £35 Gas Safety Check fee each year.
Some say it would be more economical to have the Homecare 200 package, but when they initally came out they wanted over £600 for a powerflush. Something which the Gas Safety Check engineer said we dont need.
Wasted money? How many times have you had to repair the boiler in the last 1/2/3/4/5 years.?0 -

Whilst I accept that BG and other suppliers may continually try to upsell the powerflush product, I think it important to explain that I very much doubt that powerflushing has anything to do w gas safety, so to ensure safety, no wonder the gas safety chap said you didn't need it for the certificate. Therefore, perhaps we are comparing apples w oranges.
I'd rather pay the gas safety bloke to do the cert but to service the boiler each year or even just the cert in the second year (no service). In addition I plan to sign up to the £69 "all emergencies" product. I reckon I will get targeted value that way, and hopefully avoid spurious power flush sales pitches. I will also be covered for burst pipes, broken windows, roof leaks etc etc.0 -

If you are a Landlord then a CP12 is a legal requirement, but it has to be considered that it is much like an MoT on your car, and you have Tenants to consider?
It is my belief that it is about time that a CP12 should include an Appliance Service as a Legal Requirement also, as there have been incidents of fatalities even tho an indate CP12 existed for a property!
How confident are you that a CP12 is sufficient??????????? is what all Landlords should ask themselves!!!Signature removed0 -

if £267 includes your CP12 figure, for what homecare gives you... thats reasonable.
It takes the hassle of you sorting out an engineer if and when there is a fault.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -

EEk remember emergency cover products guarantee only one thing.....
TEMPORARY REPAIRS
Potentially, you may still have to call someone else out to sort the problem out..... also some of these emergency cover products wont cover tenanted properties.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Hello again,
Can I ask "Littledragon" where I can obtain the emergency cover mentioned please for the £69pa? Do you have the name of the supplier please?
I can always obtain a CP12 for the year seperately from a local gas engineer and it would still be better value than British gas on the face of it.
Many Thanks0 -
all home insurers sell home emergency....
Swinton is either £69 or £79.
Remember Emergnecy cover does not guarantee to repair the fault fully, so you may still have to pay out yourself....
Read their wording VERY carefully.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Hello again,
I've tried to add it to my LV Frizzell landlords policy unsuccessfully. They will only include it on my own residential property.
This maybe particular to LV Frizzell, as their landlord's insurance is a quarter of the price of other companies.
Oh well, may still have to use Brit Gas after all which does include any work and most parts if needed and isn't just an emergency temp fix. I do find their service "engineers" not very skilled though and they often just want to extract £600 out of you for a power flush even when it's just been done!
Thanks all for your input.0 -

Accept it, the powerflush carries a lifetime guarantee so as long as they did the initial flush any more needed will be f.o.c!0
