Stores closing earlier than advertised time

My son was working a night shift in a store last night, (not a supermarket) when it was noticed a customer was still walking round with a trolley full of goods, 10 mins after closing time.
When my son informed the man that the store was closed, but he could go to the checkout and pay, I believe the man got very bad tempered and said he hadn't finished his shopping. He chose not to buy the shopping and asked my son for his name. Son started writing his name down, asked the customer if he wanted his middle name, then customer slammed his fist down on son's hand!!!
I hope the cctv cameras caught it all, and the customer is banned for life.
What a horrible man! We have banned customers that have been behaving on a similar level to him. One customer blocked the entrance to the checkout area (has two tills per area) as I was about to leave to go home. 'YOU WILL SERVE ME' he said in an aggressive manner then grabbed my wrist. The deputy store manager saw and heard what was going on. He then told the customer to let go of me and get out of the store. The man was banned from the store and he almost broke my wrist. It was painful to use for a couple of days and had to wear a support.
If your son gets a bruise where the saddo thumped him on his hand, he can be done.0 -
Well I'm still getting email notifications that the topic is active and so is as relevant now as it was when it started. So if you've got nothing useful to contribute you know what you should do........

Another thing. Shops are closing 6pm at the latest on Christmas Eve and the last bus and train runs at 6:30pm. If some inconsiderate customers are slow in coming to the tills/leaving the store, some shop staff that travel to work by public transport may miss that last bus or train. They may not have anyone that will be able to pick them up and face double fares on taxis.
It happened to a friend about 4 years ago and she had no alternative to pay £25 for a 5 mile journey as there was one customer that refused to leave the store. Her father had an op on his leg was in the middle of a period where he wasn't able to drive, her mother doesn't drive and all of her friends that drive were in other parts of the UK with their families.0 -

It wouldn't do any good, you don't subscribe yet you still post in here.0 -
I don't see a problem with refusing entry in the last 15 mins. They need to ensure that all customers have been served and the doors are closed as soon as possible, they really don't need disorganised late comers clogging up the checkouts at closing time. Staff have comes to go too, they don't get over time just because you couldn't get your life sorted out. If you just need a pint of milk or a loaf of bread then I'm sure there is another store open later in the area.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0
