  • The range you have decided on is a really nice door. They also do it in cream i think which is nice. Im not really sure on the price. I imagine it is quite competitive but if you have a local Benchmark near you ask your kitchen fitter if he has an account with them as they sell the same kitchens. They are both owned by Travis Perkins.
You could also compare the price to places like diy-kitchens.co.uk. DIY kitchens are a better product so if its cheaper on there youd be better off getting it from there. They have a very good reputation

By the way looks really good with wooden worktops

Agree but would get them made by a local small Joinery workshop who would more than likely be able to make worktops constructed from wide boards with attractive grain for about the same price that the rubbish worktops costs from Wickes and all the other sheds.

People will spend hours upon hours looking into different styles of kitchens and quality of carcases but seem to think that they have to buy the worktops from the same place.:D
  • Totally agree. Wooden worktops from the big high street stores are way overpriced.

    Thanks for the responses.

I don't like the worktop we have in the quote anyway but I do like a grey one i saw at Howdens so i think it will be Howdens worktops. Are these ok?

Also the Wickes consultant said that if I decide to buy the kitchen by the 31st he will knock another 5% off the price.

Don't feel pressured by that extra 5%, it is always there during the sale, so ask for it even if you order later, but that price will only be available until the 15th of Jan.

Caledonia is a decent quality italian lacquered door and the Wickes units are good quality for the current prices.

I may be a bit biased though;)

Push for 10% off instead. Tell them Meepster said they know they can offer 10% extra discount and for them to stop being so tight...

(and yes, I'm serious, branch managers can always offer an additional 10% off ;) )
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

According to several branch managers up here, it is still possible ;)
