Options
Sorry if this is offtopic but I need to help a friend. His has got a job at a aldi store and he has to go to the store in a few days to sign a contract and show various documents for proof etc. He had a list of the items he needed only he lost it and he has a terrible memory.

I told him to phone them up but he doesn't have there number nor does he want look like a fool. Anyway can someone please provide a list of things needed when he does goes to sign the contract (he does remember he needs a photo copy of a few things)

Many Thanks

i work for a high street retailer and you will find the documents will be either passport or full birth certificate and proof of NI details, such as p45 or NI card. Work permit if applicable.

We normally ask for the original and copy them ourselves as we need to scan them off to HO, but it sounds like aldi just want the copies.

In the old days before barcode scanning Aldi employees had to remember all the prices of the items in their heads...your friend should be grateful for technology. :)
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Yep, tell me about it - I worked for them for 14 months (which seemed like a decade!). I worked at both head office and in 2 stores. In store, I had a week to learn all the prices and be able to touch type on the till - a box was put over my hands to test me! Luckily I managed it, but they tended to sack those who didn't or those who peed them off. Or they made the lives of their hated store managers so horrid, that they ended up leaving! No one under the age of 40 can normally cope with working for them as they push you to the limit physically. I remember the 6.30am starts not going home sometimes until midnight - I even lived in a hotel for a while paid for by the company, but never hardly saw my room!!!!!

I came home with bruises every day from all the pallets and it is bl**dy hard work! The money is great (approx £35k for a store manager, £8 an hour on the tills etc) but boy do you work for your money! In the end I chose having a life!!!!!

As for documents - just take in a passport, NI card and a driving licence. And tell him to be prepared......to sign his life away!!!!! :rotfl: (anyone who has worked for them I'm sure will agree with me!)
  • recently highlited in newspaper. ALDI now pay their graduates £35,000 and give them an AUDI car plus pension, medical and benefits! not bad! plus they are ranked higher than some of the well known supermarkets!

Does your friend meet the unusual not to say discriminatory standards Aldi have had?

I know Mark from this case having met him on a course and he was lovely .

I did not think that theft was a civil liberty.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

i went for an interview with Aldi in my younger days and was grilled by this really uptight German. He then took me to the warehouse and i saw lads RUNNING around the warehouse. The Stiff German yelled some guys name, who came running over dripping in sweat and introduced him as the warehouse manager. After a quick chat the German told me that because we held him up for 5 minutes the Warehouse guy would have to work even harder to catch up!!

Money looked good, the factory was clean, but i thanked him for his time and told him to "ram your job pie-face". I don't mind working for my money, but if a manager is sweating like that then how far are they pushing the rest of the staff?

Some people work to live and others live to work.
