    It will be chargeable.

As said get the KEY asap, buy a new one and argue the bill later.

    Since when?

I think you need to review the terms and conditions again, because I have just looked at my RAC policy and it doesn't say anything about not recovering, if I have lost my locking wheel nut key.

Every good breakdown van driver will be able to remove your lock nuts.

They are virtually useless as a deterrent.

Most companies that change tyres carry the locking nuts for most, but agread not all, types of wheels. The tyre fitters see this type of thing all the time and the chances of them having the key are good. I would imagine that the breakdown services would also carry most of the keys.

Or nothing, if one has breakdown cover.

    I do have breakdown cover.

A slightly worrying thing is we have a green laning trip planned for Wednesday - they tend to be a little harder on all components of the motor.

if you are waiting for the RAC or AA etc. they will leave you alone and you will not be charged £700 to be towed off, ive had trucks recovered for less than that.

I know at least 2 companies local to me carry locking key sets just in case.

Since you are not required by law to carry even a spare tyre never mind the key.......are they going to refuse to recover your vehicle for that too?

Ironic bit of useless information: If stowed away, your spare doesnt need to comply with legal requirements (only becomes an offense when you fit it on your car apparently). BUT if you have a spare that doesnt comply with legal requirements and it is stowed when your car goes for a MOT, it will fail. Kicker being, your car will pass if you remove it and put it through its MOT without the spare. Go figure!

Would you actually lose money for being late at work? I wouldn't. Might get a stern talking to if it happened a few times. But wages docked?

Inconvenience isn't, generally, recoverable at law. Maybe it should be. But it isn't.

There are many many jobs out there that pay hourly rather than salary. So you get paid for the time your there/clocked in thus if your late you don't get paid and need t makeup the hours.
