I am going to apply to do access to nursing next year. to get in I know the grades and it says intial screening (person said a "test of english and maths). and interveiw.
IS the intial test hard like a level or is it just GCSE standard sort of thing. I ask this as it only asks for GCSE's to enter.

just be yourself, they are looking for people who are not just applying to get the student grant, who are committed to the process and won't drop out and who have a desire to do the career they are signing up for. The access course consists of things like essay writing, english etc so they just want to see that you have basic literacy skills. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

The English and Maths test will be to check whether you can cope with the academic demands at the start of the course, particularly for people in your situation who don't have the requisite GCSEs.0

I have said this before and will say it again. Go to https://www.studentnurse.org.uk and you will get all the answers you need. There is a huge amount of information about the selection tests and interviews for individual universities. One of the things you are going to need to learn is to utilise sources correctly, a moneysaving site is not the best place to be looking for advice on applying to nursing courses.0

Excellent advice, although the OP is applying for an Access course next year, not nursing.0 -

There are plenty of people on that forum that have completed the access so I am sure he will find what he needs if he looks properly0 -

I will have by then. So it is just a basic test then? like basic level 2 english and level 2 maths0 -
You know, as a student and as a nurse you'll need to be able to find information and do research yourself! Why don't you practice now instead of coming on here with every single question?
Google is a good place to start, or you could pick up the phone occasionally.0 -

You won't have the appropriate level GCSEs at the time of your assessment. You may have them when you start the course if you put the work an and get the grades.0 -

As a previous poster has said, MSE is not the best place to be asking such questions. You will find that https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk is much more informative.0
