  • Well this is how I'm hoping to start. I'm going to go around my house and gather up things to sell such as old clothes, books, cds etc and sell them on ebay. Then I will use what I make to buy some craft materials or some interesting items from wholesale and attend craft fairs every week. Only problem is I don't quite know what to specialise in as yet.

I’ve got a friend who’s currently living in Hawaii, goes to the beach each morning and picks up everything from glass bottles to feathers to fishing hooks.

The fishing hooks make great tops of earrings, everything else, provided its not too sharp, will make earrings, necklaces etc.

She declared around $90k for the 7 months she worked last year (traveller). It’s often a bit of creative imagination that will make a lot of money!

  • Well I live right next to a beach so I might go and have a look. Sadly it's not Hawaii though.

yes it is all ok but you are still working for it. someone suggested buy scrap gold and re-sell, but you have to have money for it? I am also investigating a product which I hope to 'franchise', hoping to get some where. You probably noticed that i did not use the word 'work' on a product.

Assette management is another one. Pensions provision/ management, health/car/life insurance etc etc. If any one wants to jump in with ideas then we could all have a go. Saving money is out of question, as you have to be working first and then beating the inflation and avoid crooked bankeres and energy suppliers.

If you are suggesting that you would be giving financial advice for pensions and assets, then that is regulated.

  • If you can't spell asset management it's probably not for you.

    But seriously, to get rich;

    Get a job,two, maybe three
    Work bl**dy hard 70+ hours a week
Setup a business with the cash (pest control/taxis/security/record label/anything)
    Sell out

This is the story of most self made millionaires who never went the orthodox route of university, good job, better job, top job and find themselves at the top of PR firms, tech co's, hedge funds...

Read Duncan Bannatynes bio, it's the same story time and time again for successful (at least in terms of capital gain) entrepeneurs.

It's a long long road and most people stumble at least once but when you come out the other end it's all worth it.
  • I would have to agree TheSandman it's about working really hard to earn the initial cash. The more you work, the less you will spend! Then choose the right investment!

Take a look into Network Marketing/Multi Level Marketing (same thing basically); costs very little to get involved with and the rewards are equal to learning the skills and the amount of consistent effort put in.
Find a stable company (forget startups) with products you love and go to work!

    Good Luck!

Assette management spelling may be incorrect but someone spotting it has to be 'very sad'. No offence intended, most people who have made it were not rich and , education only prepares you to become a slave of some one with money. One you are over 30, it does not matter what you studied, experience takes over.

Multi level marketting is good, then again you need a team to start and you need to be at the top. I will look into this.

You dont need a team at the start, you build one from scratch same as everyone else; and ''being in at the top/start'' is not required for success.
    Worth looking into.
