Contents insurance for house sharers - help needed

Hi everyone

I need help finding contents insurance for house sharers...

The contents are currently insured with Endsleigh under one flatmate's name, so only his stuff is covered. We're looking to find new insurers, but it's not that easy to find insurers to cover house sharers as most companies seem to presume that three housesharers are students (we're all working full time) or that the renters are a couple, so only allow for two names on the policy.

There are three of us in the house, and we estimate that we need £10,000 contents and £5,000 jewellery as well as legal costs & accidental damage cover.

Does anyone know of a company that will cover three house sharers?

Alternatively, one flatmate (who has £4,000 worth of jewellery) has offered to get her own insurance, leaving just two of us looking for cover.

Any advice gratefully received, as the current cover expires on 15 Feb.

Thanks all

Each person could independently insure their contents via Endsleigh.
I can't find anyone else who will insure me as I am sharing with a friend. I've been with endsleigh for about 7 years now.

The only other one is Lloyds TSB do a similar thing to endsleigh, and they told me that their prices are often cheaper than endsleigh. I didn't need a quote at the time, so I just asked for the details. They told me to ring 0800 0158004 and quote ref TR129.

If you can find anyone else, let me know.

Because students are the most common people to find themselves in this situation then you will find insurance is aimed at them/ branded for them but that isnt to say a non-student cant take out the same policy.

    Hi

Thanks for your replies. I phoned LloydsTSB, who were able to get a quote from Norwich Union, but after much discussion with my flatmates, we decided to go for individual cover, all through Endsleigh (one of the flatmates has around £4,000 worth of jewellery  which would have bumped up the premium).

Through Endsleith, I got £5,000 worth of cover for around £68 a year, which is pretty good I reckon.

There's clearly a gap in the market, though, as loads of people in Greater London houseshare as it's the only way to be able to afford to live!!

Thanks again for your replies

Indeed they do .. but there's also a high turnover, which tends to make the Insce aspect (and other bills?) rather confused. Hence why most people simply insure their own belongings - to keep it self contained.

Have found Endsleigh (London postcodes) a bit expensive for ex-Uni people. And found Liverpool Victoria more reasonable.
