microsoft word 2010 suddenly wont open . help please

Hi, as stated , when I went to view documents I have saved they wont open and error message.
"Microsoft office 2010 cannot be opened. try again or repair in control panel"
I tried to "change" in control panel and nothings happening. I performed system restore to last week when all was fine and still the programme wont open.
Please help with any troubleshooting x

in run command, and post your results0 -
when I typed "winword/safe" it said windows cannot find the programme.

The application version number suggests that you are running Office 2007 and not 2010.
