Letters from Debt Collectors

I have now recived letters from debt collectors regarding a ticket from Athena (Lidls)
and
TCP(Asda)
So to give you a quick background picture: Asda's ticket was a mistake. There is another Asda the driver uses regularly which does not require a ticket purchase for your window. They simply forgot and went shopping for an hour.
Lidls is a camera mistake. They are claiming the car was parked for NINE hours which it was not.
So now i have threatening letters from debt collectors
Just wanted to ask advice about dealing with them from here in
Should i write to them?
or leave it?
I have enough evidence to deal with both of them especially Athena's.

i believe these 'fines' are not enforceable.. check other threads on the section..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Just ignore both. It's as simple as that! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
-
They are about as enforceable as me asking for £60 or so for advising you to ignore them, so you know what you should do, ignore then ignore some more0
-
Here's my 'problem' I am battling with the thought that it is unpolite to reply! i know it's very british but one half of me says write back even to reply. So sad, i know.
Also, what i do not want to happen is they keep ramping it up with debt collectors costs so they can then make a so called genuine claim in court. No point making a claim for £50, so we'll keep sending debt collectors and add the charge to the 'debt'. This makes it worthwhile going to court.
What do you think?0 -
I think there is no point in continuing to ask if you won't accept the answer. Read posts 3 and 4 which put it succinctly.
1. Don't pay
2. Don't reply
3. Don't appeal. It is about 101% it will be rejected.
4. Read the stickies at the top of this page concerning the letters you may/will get
5. Keep the correspondence
6. Relax and pour a drink0 -

Do you battle with yourself not to reply when you get a phishing email?
Same sort of scam but this one is by mail. And you can even predict each letter and play PPC snap with each one as it arrives. thanks to the pics in our top thread 'PPC letters, what to expect'.
Look closely at the letters on that thread; nothing else happens. No Court, no CCJ, no bailiff (neither T&C nor Athena ever do Court. Ever). Even if there had been no mistake by them we would say ignore it all; hopefully you do realise these fake PCNs are always a scam and the tickets are not real?
And watch the Watchdog link on 'welcome, please read before posting (again, it's another sticky thread by Crabman, cunningly placed a the top of the forum in the hope people will look there first...).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Asking does not mean I won't accept. It is not suggested in anyway. But i will take from your response you have first hand experience of the process and have been through the same thing, so confident in your response.
I will read the stickies as you have suggested.0 -
thanks for all the responses.
I will read through the stickies and letters.
Thanks again0 -
Rest assured that nobody is telling you to do something that we have done ourselves. This is why we can advise with total confidence that you can ignore these Mickey Mouse 'fines'.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

And you can all gave that same advice without even knowing who manages the car parks the OP was in.
WOW! Do you all do the lottery numbers as well? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
