Planned vehicle tracking and road pricing policy
I received this information and wondered if anyone knew anything about it and had any views?? I am thinking of signing up as I am all for reducing the impact of motoring on the environment but I don't see this is the way, it seems to be a step too far!!
Subject: UK ROAD TAX - This is not a joke.
Think we ALL need to sign this one !!!
Dear all,
I have done this, it's very quick and easy. There is nothing to lose by trying -
if we're to stop the Government taking our money just because we drive a car or
bike, then please at least sign up THIS IS REAL AND IT IS A PROPER GOVERNMENT
SITE!!!
The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to
purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The
tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the
lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.
A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one
month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody
will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been
going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit* you can expect and
additional fine with your monthly bill. If you care about our freedoms and
stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No
10's new website http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
<http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/> Please pass this on to anyone who owns
a car/motorcycle. It affects them. * Its not limited to speeding. They also know
where parking restrictions etc are located. And you! (Additional - I have just
been on the No10 site and there is LESS than 500k signed up to it. There are
over 30million vehicles and drivers in this country. Just to register 3% of
those against this proposal there needs to be 900k signed up! and the closing
date is 20/02/07. Did you know about this? I didn't.)

The subject of these posts is very important, but what irritates me is people reading their own spam and not noticing all the previous posts.
But then, people don't seem to read previous posts, or the same questions wouldn't keep cropping up.

I'm not sure what you mean by this Neil. If you're referring to my post, I did a search before I posted this thread and couldn't find anything so as far as I was concerned it was a genuine question. I know it's frustrating when people pose the same questions but if you cannot find a previous thread under a search what is one supposed to do?0 -
There have been LOADS of threads on this subject now,i cant believe there is anyone left in the country who does not know about it,i do agree its important though,as i said on the first dozen or so threads.:DThere are two sides to every story.

Yes, this is true, it's been in the news so everyone knows now - but if you check the date I posted this BEFORE it was on the news and as I said I couldn't find any threads when I searched on 5 Feb!0
