Hi everyone! :j Hope you are all having a beautiful, fabulous day!
I have signed up here as I was looking for a bit of advice on how it is best to get a good deal for hotels generally! We have been looking at hotels in Singapore on lastminute and expedia over the last few months. The price hasnt really variated much from 1400£ for what we are looking for. We are looking to travel in June. As a general rule, is there a way to try and lower the hotel fare with regards to when you purchase it?
Same with airlines, although I guess with airlines the earlier you buy the cheaper?

Try this company. Have used them many times without any problems.

If you are flying with Singapore Airlines they have a link to hotels at reduced cost. Otherwise look at booking with hotels.com via Quidco and also being signed up to their reward scheme which can result in the equivalent of 20% cashback. You will struggle to find a reasonable hotel at less than £100 a night.0

Hi, I always use Kayak for flights and tend to go abroad for a day before and after. eg...London and UK are relatively expensive, Milan and Madrid and Paris are cheap as chips.
On Kayak, type the abbreviated airports, eg Madrid is Mad. You can use four departures and four arrivals.
If you type par,mad,rom,lon...(that covers all airports in Paris, Madrid, Rome and London)...and then type kul,sin in destination for Kuala Lumpur and Singapore....it gives you millions lol. Singapore airlines and Qatar, two of the greatest airlines ever for £460. And you also get the pleasure of great European cities for a few pound extra compared to UK.
Saying that I got London to Kuala return for two months for £270 with AirAsia.
Enjoy Singapore....fantastic.0 -
Or..wait until you get there and stay in one of the many Hostels available.0

Otherwise look at booking with hotels.com via Quidco.
Have nothing but trouble with quidco/hotels.com bookings, three recent bookings all tracked then declined for no reason.
However never had the problem with expedia and you get nectar points tooLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

Just had a quick look to compare some June prices for the OP, Expedia/Asia Rooms. Do not know class of hotel they are looking for, but found in one case for the Mandarin Orchard AR were over £400 cheaper than Expedia for the period 06/14 June. ShangriLa £700 less for the same period.£1528 v £2261.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
When I stopped in Singapore for 3 days back in March I booked a hotel using laterooms.com which earns cashback through topcashback. I have used this site quite a lot and been in some lovely hotels around the world for cheap as chips prices, I stayed in Hotel Fort Canning which is very nice indeed0
