Had accident, 2 lots of full no claims. awhat now?

Options
I have 2 sets of full no claims (both protected) on 2 seperate vehicles, Car & Van.

I've had a claim against me, within the last year. on 1 of them.

I've had renewal price for the claim free policy. Not sure what to do now.

Do i have to tell the claim free providers of the recent claim on my other vehicle insurance?
If so will it affect the clean policy premium much?

I can't see anywhere on the renewal letter any questions about the previous year.

Many thanks

  • They ask if you've had a claim / accident; so seeing that you have you need to tell them.

Sorry scheming_gypsy, not quite understanding what your saying.

Are you saying i've no need to tell them unless they ask?

The renewal will clearly state that the quotation is based on no change of circumstances from last year, your circumstances have changed by having the accident.

You need to declare the accident to both insurers.

On renewal you would have had one claim that effects your NCD ( or would if it wasn't protected) and on the other policy haven't had a claim.

  • Thanks everyone, will declare, that is what i had presumed anyway, just misread your answer scheming_gypsy.

If i use a search engine for i new quote then, i still put my full NCD, as it is protected, but tell i've had a claim accident on another insurance policy?

Just out of interest, if you have a claim on one policy don't you have to inform the other insurer about the incident right away, not wait for the renewal?
  • If you have a claim against you you must inform both insurers right away. If you need to make a claim on your clean car insurance and they find out you've lied or not informed that about the previous claim they may refuse to pay out
