P&O cruises- prices on board

I'm going on ventura next week and was wondering about onboard prices for things like toiletries, beach wear etc. I've not managed to buy everything i need and was hoping to pick some bits up in the ship's shops.

Thanks

My friend and I were on Azura last year and we were pleasantly surprised by the price of drinks as they are roughly pub/hotel prices.

There was a small shop that sold everyday things that wasn't too expensive. Some toiletries, hand cream, cough sweets etc. You know the sort of things you usually forget or run out of. However, the posh cosmetic/perfume shop etc was well out of my price range as all top of the range stuff which I do buy siometimes but always in sales.

Clothes were mostly expensive although I did buy a couple of tops which were in the £20-£30 price range but generally top of High St prices. I didn't look at bathing costumes but I think you would do better to buy before you board as there wasn't a huge choice. We were on board for 16 nights and by the end of the second week there was a sale but obviously the best stuff had already been sold.

Hope this is of some help. And just to say I am very jealous as my OH and I have to wait until July to be on the Azura again. Ventura is on my wish list for the following year.

Whatever you can buy and take with you will undoubtedly cheaper than on board.

The P&O ferry we go over to Amsterdam on is always at least one third more expensive.

Cider in the Bar was about £5.50 in the bar for a Magners, dont buy it at home but it certainly sounded expensive for a bottle of cider.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Prices onboard are not too bad, e.g. I forgot my toothbrush and it only cost me 99p from the shop. They provide shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the cabins (they are White Company products). You will pick up other basics such as deodorant in the shops but I would be more tempted to pick up at the airport. The clothing onboard is pretty limited and I would not personally risk buying onboard. The stuff was generally merchandise with logo or seemed to be more formal wear or stuff that wasn't really to my taste. Again, worth trying to buy stuff at airport if you can or maybe on one of the Caribbean islands. P&O prices onboard and generally very reasonable. Have a fab time - she is a lovely ship.

P&O ferry is a totaly different company.
  • Depending on your age the clothing in the onboard shops may not be to your taste as P&O tend to cater to the more 'mature' cruiser. The P&O Cruises website has a host of useful information about life onboard, as follows:

Most importantly have a wonderful time!:D
  • Thanks all. I managed to leave work early today and hit the sales. Got most things i need. I'll go again tomorrow after work ... Blimey will need a holiday after all this prep! Lol!

I'm going on ventura for 14 nights in the caribbean.. Its my first cruise and I'm really excited!
