merry christmas everyone. I have a quick question if any one could please help, on christmas eve i ordered a sofa from argos online for £849 reduced from £999 however watching tv today i saw that they now have an extra 15% off so checked online and it is now £722. I ordered it because i thought that would be the sale price didnt think it would be reduced again the next day so was thinking either phone up and cancel and reorder at cheaper price or should i be cheeky and phone and ask if they would apply the extra discount to the order, any opinions?

Just call up and cancel then reorder, safer0

nothing wrong in calling them and asking for the extra discount as they most likely wont charge your card until its ready for dispatch0

Be prepared for the usual people to start the "If the price had gone up would you be happy to pay the difference?" argument
Anyway, if the order wasn't for a customised or made to order item then you have the legal right to cancel it and get a full refund of your money (under the Distance selling reg's).
With this in mind, you should contact Argos and ask if they will refund the difference to save the trouble of cancelling and reordering.
They don't have to agree, but it's in their best interest to do so, and there's certainly no harm in asking.0 -

I would say, "do both." If they won't give you the discount, cancel and then re-order.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Thanks for the replies, checked my balance and payment hasnt been taken yet so will phone them tomorrow and see what happens0

phoned argos customer services this morning and explained the situation and without me even having chance to ask they said they would apply the cheaper price to the order so i am very impressed with them.0
