My friend and I are doing an online and live auction for our favourite charity the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. We have people making jewellery so we call sell it, we are also hoping to try and contact Rock bands and smaller bands to send us some merchandise.

I wondered how I would go about doing that? We are considering sending letters to fan clubs and emailing the Record Companies but is there another way of doing it?

If anyone is interested donating crafts please inbox me.

Thank you the charity link is here

Thank you we have been targeting FB, the date has been set for the auction which is 26th November so anything sent by bands needs to be put in by August!

Check out the local radio stations - they receive a lot of free stuff (and if they interview can easily get stuf signed) - they may be interested in supporting you, and could also advertisie it as well.

I have done a large facebook auction for a children's charity with some friends. We wrote to different fan clubs explaining what the auction was raising money for and asked for any items they would be willing to donate. They weren't rock bands but we had a great response.

You are doing the right thing contacting people now because it often takes them a while to respond or send you items. Writing or email is fine and put an address that they can send items to.

We had a good response from some celebrities, TV shows, companies and places to visit. It depends on the people you are targeting to bid on your auction as to what items you want but if you think of someone ASK! You will be surprised what you get offered! Good luck.
