If the house is old then mice are unavoidable unfortunately. I used to get mice every two months but I bought this two years ago and haven't had a problem since:

There really isn't a lot your landlord can do and humane traps don't work. The only thing you can do is buy wax traps then kill them when caught or an ultrasonic device which repels them away.0 -
No, councils only take any responsibility for pests that are a health risk - i.e., rats.
I would telephone the l/l or agent, but you may end up footing the bill yourself.
my local council came out to mice as they said its a risk to health and put down the bait and came back a few days later to check up on progress0
