serious help needed asap with IPod Touch please

We have bought GS a 64gb IPod Touch Gen 4. However, we are unable to sync it to any of our computers as the computers keep recognising it as a camera. We have down loaded and installed Itunes, but still cant do anything. Consequently we have yet to be able to register it either.
We would appreciate any help asap as have one very grump GS

When you connect the ipod touch,I am presuming a small window opens showing the ipod touch as a camera ,close that.If Itunes doesnt open automatically,open it,in the left hand column,about half way down,you should see the ipod listed,click on that,set up should follow,goodluck.0
