Grrrr - Cash Generators

My better half bought me an iPod touch for Christmas and she specifically asked (and was told) that it was a 2nd generation. However, it is a 1st generation and as a result most of my apps won't work on it.
Will obviously go back to the store when it re-opens, but the receipt only has a reference number on it - it doesn't specify the product.
I would assume that with the receipt, they could look up on the system what the item was, and hopefully it will say it should have been a 2nd gen and they can either refund or exchange.
But my hopes are not high. Has anyone had any dealings with Cash Generators?

One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Top tip. Before going to town, make sure the shop is openOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

You were advised that it is a 2nd generation iPod, so that forms part of the sales contract. As such the vendor has breached the contract and you are entitled to a full refund... Proving what was said either to the vendor or a court may be tricky.... I would prepare for battle!0

But in reality it is your word against theirs, if they deny advising you it was the 2nd generation.
When was it purchased? As by law you may be deemed to have 'accepted' the goods already.0 -
Was paid in full and collected on the 17th Dec I believe. I'm hoping that they can just look up the code on the receipt and see that it says it should be a 2nd generation one and it was simply a mistake. But it's also possible that the one Mrs H was given when it was paid off is not the same one she saw when she went in there.
I'm quite happy to accept a replacement or store credit (ie pay the difference to upgrade to a better model)One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

If I was you i'd make a point of stating your looking to exchange or upgrade initially. I know people who have had problems with cash converters and returns/refunds and don't believe them to be reputable -- although never used them myself so this may not be representative of the company as a whole.0 -
I bought an IPhone 3G from Cash Generators which they sold to me telling me it was a 3GS. I went back to the store and they checked up what it was inputted at when the person sold it to them and admitted their mistake. I got a full refund xxx0

They didn't have any more in stock, but acknowledged the error. The manager has written and signed on the receipt stating that I am due a replacement, and we have agreed to see if any come in before the end of the week.if not, I'll get a refund. Happy with that. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
