John Lewis Returns/Exchange

Hi,

I just got a new coat for Christmas, unfortunately it was 2 sizes too big. It was ordered online from John Lewis 10 days ago, and I have the delivery receipt (it does not have the prices on there).

Does anyone know whether I can exchange this within their stores for the right size coat (or failing that for another item)?

On the John Lewis website it states:

"Under the Distance Selling Regulations, if you buy online or by phone, your consumer rights entitle you to a full refund if you request one in writing within 7 working days of receipt."

Does anyone know whether I will be entitled to an exchange?

Many thanks!

you were reading the refund procedure
    Returns procedure
Returns can be made through either of these options:
    1. Returns via Royal Mail or courier
Fill out your reason(s) for return on the back of the delivery note
Enclose the delivery note with the product, and package up securely
Use the pre-paid Royal Mail Returns label from the delivery note and obtain a certificate of postage from the Post Office
If your item(s) requires collection or if you have any other queries, call us on 08456 049 049

Please note: you may have received a delivery note that states you should contact us for a Returned Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number before returning items via Royal Mail. This is no longer the case - we've simplified the procedure but are using up our stock of delivery notes to avoid waste
    2. Returns via a John Lewis shop
Simply take the delivery note or order confirmation and the product you wish to return or exchange to the appropriate department in the shop, and tell the sales assistant you bought it online.
Waitrose Wines cannot be returned to John Lewis or Waitrose shops, and must be returned via courier collection (full cases only - see above).
  • Yes, you can return it to a store.

How do I return items I've bought online?
You can use the pre-paid Royal Mail returns label on the delivery note and obtain a certificate of postage from the post office. You no longer need an RMA number to return your item by post, even if your delivery note states otherwise. If your product requires a collection, for example large items, please contact our customer services department. Find out more.
You can also take your product into one of our shops for a refund or exchange. Simply take the delivery note or order confirmation and the product you wish to return or exchange to the appropriate department in the shop, and tell one of our Partners that you bought it online.
  • Thanks for your replies.

Just to clarify, would there be a problem exchanging it despite the fact that it is after 7 days of purchase?
  • The 7 days is normally just for if you want to cancel under the Distance selling regulations (and this is 7 working days beginning the day after delivery).

John Lewis are normally very good with returns and I've taken stuff back to a store 3 or 4 weeks after purchase and never had a problem.
