  • I am thinking i will maybe wait for a good promo on chow to post reviews. The effort I put in v the payout you get without a promo seems next to nothing. Saying that it is still an extra £30 a month minumum just seems for hours I put in a little rubbish at times:(

maybe if I put that time in somewhere else I can make it up will have to keep thinking maybe the baby brain clouding my vision lol.xx

I read something on FB today about sw@g changing the videos - looks like you now need to watch each one for longer ?
Someone please correct me if this is wrong.
Typical as I've only started using it in the past week !

Things are definately changing on SwagBucks. Reading on their FaceBook Wall there are more of us having issues! My Swag Buck Meter for the SBTV has now not moved for more than 2 days!! And that is with watching videos of 5 mins and more . Not sure what is happening... Also the hourly winner has changed from 1000SBs to 4000SBs, fingers crossed ;) Would be nice to have some official info to read, if we now have to watch for longer. Don't mind them changing the goalposts, but would like to know about it .

Hi everyone - have been here, just not posting much. Busy at home, plus moneymaking has meant not a lot of time to spare.

Anyhow - here's February's Challenge. A little bit late - so please accept my apologies.

Thrifty Gifty - Challenge Two - February 2012

    1. For Review Writers - Declare how many reviews you would like to post this month. Post the number on the thread, and I WILL be along to check how your challenge is going. If you don’t complete it, you will have to come up with an idea for March’s challenge, so be warned. ;)

    2. For Everyone - Make a special effort on Tolun@ (or any site you wish). Do sponsored and quick surveys daily, and attempt every survey you are invited to (not just the high paying ones). Make an effort to write your own polls and opinions (100 points each), and answer other peoples (where you will be paid 100 points if your reply is over 80 words).

    3. Make a special effort to use as many coupons/special offers as you can, and put the savings you’ve made to one side for Christmas Food/Treats etc. Perhaps buy some Christmas savings tokens/stamps with it, so you can’t be tempted to dip into the cash. You can find the discount codes and vouchers board here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38

    4. Now for something a bit different - as it’s been a long, dark winter, and with Valentines this month - make some time to love yourself too. Enjoy a little ’me’ time and have a treat that doesn’t cost anything. Read a book you bought a while ago but didn‘t get around to, have a long, luxurious soak (no kids allowed), Google recipes for a face mask/foot soak/body scrub using ingredients in your kitchen cupboards, or get OH to give you a relaxing massage. Anything! Just as long as you don’t spend any money on it.

Everyone has done so well during January and we deserve a treat, so make sure you do the last challenge as well. OK?

I hope this is OK - and TOGETHER we can make February’s totals even better than January. We CAN DO IT. :D

  • Hi everyone, Happy February and big well done to everyone on their moneymaking efforts, every penny counts towards Christmas and you are all on the right track x

Looking forward to this months challenges, will they be up by Friday Elysia? I only ask as i will be without internet for a few weeks so wont know what the challenge is after then, lol, the joys of moving!

Just totting up my totals I have made
    £30 topcashback
    £105 surveys/panels/s&s etc
    £133 ebay
    £225 cash sales (fb)
    £30 from zapper
£15 giftcard from my brother as a gift
    Total £540.06

Wish every month could be like this but as we are moving we had/have quite a bit to shift before we went.

Today has been good, was too ill to go out yesterday but dropped off a couple of items to a lady who gave me £40 instead of the £37.50 expected for my trouble to come and deliver to her, so we are off to a good start. One ebay item ending tonight but still plenty more items I need to shift really. Plenty of dd's clothes new with tags that she hasn't got around to wearing and plenty more without tags that are too small. I'm enjoying getting rid of it all which helps lol.

Bless miss hoodie, what a wonderful gift to ask for, most children would ask for makeup or the newest toy so it is refreshing that she values experiences over materialistic things :)

Don't try to worry about the reviews mum2three, I don't review as I just don't have the time with a toddler, fitting in family time, my OU degree and currently moving house. When i did try I made about £5 so for now it just isn't for me but I concentrate on other things that take little time and pay well, different things work for different people so it's really finding what works for you :)

  • Oooh thanks for the challenges Elysia, must have cross posted with you ;)

For number 3. I have started doing the second purse challenge here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3745005
The idea is you have a seperate purse you use each month to pay for things you can stock up on that you usually buy (January for me was Andrex toilet rolls super cheap) you make a note of what you have spent and how much you will charge yourself when you use one of your stockpiled items, when an item is used you add this to your second purse. Each month you pay say £10 in to get bargains. Eventually as time goes on, you have stockpiled essentials, and your second purse balance rapidly grows but you don't actually spend any more than you usually would in the shop. Or to put it simply, you ensure you always get your items at the cheap price than getting caught out with a price hike when you run out. You can then use the profit in the second purse to pay for Christmas (or whatever you choose)

It's basically what Elysia has suggested but a more in depth way of doing it so you always get the cheap prices and you get the savings, not the supermarkets.

Worth a look if anyone is doing challenge 3 :D

Question: my Chow account balance has been reduced by over £1.50 can anyone tell me why this might happen?
    Thanks

Thanks Savvy - I saw that on Florences' signature, and wonder what it meant. :)

Just totted up my totals for the month. Not as good as other months, but not too bad for January. I'm close to redeeming on all the higher payout sites (except OP) so if they send a few good surveys, I might be able to cashout this month. Fingers crossed.

    Cash from surveys/ebay sales/etc £190. 06
    Vouchers from TCB/ Mys/S&S etc £109.65
    Total - £299.71

Considering it's the 1st - I'm already due £121 in payments this month, so I'm aiming to beat January's totals all being well.

Annie - we don't know why but it happened last month too - Rufus's have gone down and some other people's, but mine have gone UP by £98 - no idea why? It'll sort itself out in the end. ;)

Thanks - I thought I had done something wrong!
Must do more on both sites this month
Well done on your totals, pretty impressive and thanks for you support x

    More great totals everyone.

Thanks for the challenges Elysia. I have made a start on the first one with the reviews. I will try to do 20 this month and have got one out of the way already. I am going to do them for DY only and then wait for a promo for the other one unless I can find seven things for the C promo. I need to go and look up the categories and see if I have anything in them.

I already do all the polls etc on Toluna but I will try to do some of the opinions as well to boost the points.

OH does most of the shopping so I dont get a chance to use vouchers etc, but I am keeping my eyes open on the Grabbit board for presents.

As for the last one, I get quite a bit of me time anyway. I cant have a long soak as I cant use the bath and its so cold in our bathroom its just a quick shower and out again. I think I will just give myself some special time to do some sewing and may be make time to see the grand children a bit more this month.
