Joe - have you joined Ipsos and Mys - take a while to mount up, but I get at least £10 a month from each. There is NV(ista) and POP(ulus) and UGov for cash cheques - but at £50 each it takes a while.

We live in my dads house so down to him to foot the bill!! we think it is still under warranty but I can't get through to the company luckily we have 2 heaters and a good fire

That's good news Emma. It's just a hassle with the weather being so cold.
