My daughter bought me a cardigan from New Look yesterday, when I tried it on, I noticed a large pull on the sleeve, so I want to return it.
She cant find the reciept!
What are my rights here? She paid cash.

best to just ask in the shop. it you still have the tags on and just want to exchange it they might let you do it. I very much doubt they will refund though.

Would not waste your time today though. I was in New Look a few days before Christmas and there was signs up saying we will not be refunding/exchanging on boxing day to save on queue times.

Could you not pull the 'pull' back from the inside, to save you all the hassle, the trouble is, if you take it back you may only
be given credit for the sale price if its on sale inthe store when you do.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

they cant do that if an item is faulty and the store is open they you have the right to return the faulty item for refund/exchange no matter what day it is, the store may not like doing this on boxing days, but they they cant do anything about it if you are returning faulty goods.
  • The problem is though Tex is that even though the goods are faulty, the OP will still be relying on the goodwill of the store staff in order to get a refund or exchange as they have no proof of purchase.

The checkout staff may have to go back through the sales records to find the item in question, so they may not be willing to do this today as the store will be extremely busy.

true for the OPs case, but my commenst was the fact the store placed "signs up saying we will not be refunding/exchanging on boxing day to save on queue times." which they cant do if goods are faulty.if you have a receipt you have a statutory right for this to be refunded/exchanged or repaired. a retailer cant say we wont refund/exchange because we will have customers in queues. Placing such a sign would suggest they are expecting a load of faulty goods returned and dont want to deal with them on boxing day. well if everyone took these back tomorrow the store would be in the same boat with customers waiting in a queue.

hopefully my staff are coping today ( me off with a very bad cold- flu like), but boxing day i have a memeber of staff and a spare till so if any returns for exchanges/refunds will be dealt by this till only.

    Snap.
I think it's a cold, but it only started yesterday and this morning I had a temperature of 100.5.
