PPI Companies

I recently used a company to reclaim wrongly sold PPI on a credit card, I know this was a big mistake now as I received my bill a few days after a cheque for just under £2,400 which was great but the bill came to £697!!!! I don't mind paying for a service but I WILL NOT pay almost seven hundred pounds just for someone to send out a few letters on my behalf, it has completely ruined my Christmas that a company that is meant to be trying to help people is worse than the banks that are ripping us off at the moment.:mad::mad::mad:

ummm if it's that easy why didn't you DIY?
You were not paying them 'just to send a few letters' - you were paying them for their knowledge, an entirely different thing. And they have delivered as promised.
I fear if you don't pay they will take you to court, win and trash your credit rating
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
And yes I agree the fee is high0 -

How are they worse than? They gave you the service you agreed to pay for.
Again we have another thread with someone not wanting to pay for a service they've received because they realise there wasn't much work done. But the time to think of that is BEFORE you agree with the firm.
Would you do the same with a solicitor after they've got your refund?
I don't use claim companies because I know its easy enough and there's plenty of info on here. Why did you not do the same?0 -
you have to laugh. You and all the other muppets who used these companies will now have to hand over a large % of your settlement.
Don't forget to declare it too to the tax man, the social security (benefits people), local council etc...
how much I wonder will people actually have left of all the billions that will be paid out????!!!!
what a farceAs is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0 -

Ok so these people have made a mistake using claims companies but there is no need to rub salt into the wounds and refer to them as "muppets"

So, why did you agree in advance to pay someone that? You knew the work they would do and the level they would be paid. Now you want to avoid paying it?
Getting a payout often does that...it has completely ruined my Christmas
that a company that is meant to be trying to help people is worse than the banks that are ripping us off at the moment
They are not meant to be helping you. They exist to make money and have found a very easy way to do it. An awful lot of them are a disgrace. Indeed, you would be hard pushed to name one that isnt.Ok so these people have made a mistake using claims companies but there is no need to rub salt into the wounds and refer to them as "muppets"
I know what I would call someone who uses a claims company to get money but then tries to get out of paying their agreed bill when they get the award.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Perhaps. However, having been (possibly) missold to by the bank, I find it most surprising that so many people are then silly enough to sign up for something else without first considering what they are letting themselves in for.
Fool me once - shame on you
Fool me twice - shame on me.
I suggest the OP learns the lesson, pays up and moves on.0 -

I couldn't agree more magpie, I was just reminding people about forum etiquette. I think they can work out for themselves what they are, including myself who has been fooled once (shame on me) I have been a "muppet" but I don't need telling, or maybe I do

But after realising you could have DIY, did you try and get out of paying your bill?
It is that bit which lends itself to my opinion.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
