cancel barclaycard and get 1000 nectar points

Hi,

My work colleague just phoned Barclaycard to cancel and move to another card. They offered 1000 nectar points for free. He said well if I take the points can I still cancel tomorrow. They said yes!

Bargain. Get the free points then switch card!

Your colleague could try this approach everyday or every week. If they forever sit on the fence and tip one way and then the other they could get more stuff. They could contrast the new deal with the existing deal and try for matching terms and get both.
I only wish my credit card companies cared whether I left them or not.

well your mate must be well in - cos I was about to cancel mine and happened upon your post - so went ahead and cancelled and guess what?? no Nectar - so not as sweet as one might think
