Making money with magic?

  • I was going to say either be self employed and do parties or get an agent and do events and things?
  • i think doing parties would be a good idea to get your name out there - anything from childrens parties to wedding receptions to entertain the guests. get yourself a website set up and start advertising yourself anywhere you can think of - local paper, gumtree, net mums etc etc.

also, don't forget about things like twitter/facebook/youtube to upload pictures/videos of you doing magic. i'm sure i heard on the radio that dynamo started off on youtube?

what about entering local talent contests or something like britains got talent? that type of thing? even if you don't win you never know who's watching, plus again it gets your name out there.

visiting local social clubs/pubs and asking if they are interested in you doing a show for them one evening?

contacting businesses and asking if they are holding any events and if they would be requiring something different to entertain their contacts?

until people know you exist then you're not going to get very far so do everything and anything you can to get your name out there. even if it means giving up your time for free to get your name out there.

good luck with your new venture!!

    Subway is a good choice.
  • We are in entertainments and if you do high street magic you will need a licence from your Council.

Better off setting up a web site and contacting companies, looking for parties and weddings to do close up magic.

Also, check with other people in your area wht their rates are and network with them. If they have extra work they may pass it on, but they won't if you don't charge the proper going rate!!
If you're not behind our soldiers.....please feel free to stand in front of them!

It counts as busking so yes you need a licence. I used to be into magic but I was never amazing. Had a few cool things I could do. I'm now stuck with a box of stuff. Might have to crack it out later to see whether I can get back into it!
  • our local pub has a magician on sundays, he is amazing and we go to the pun just to see him, the pub pays him and he gets tips. i love it and would recommend approaching your local

I live in London and there are many street magicians and showmen on the street making money but most of them are located in one area. I used to live with guy who did it for living and he was making £100 each day, in coins, lol

I saw this guy the other day on the street making people guess which bowl contains the ball and he rewards them with cash if they get it right. Its like magic and gambling
