Making money with magic?

Options
Hi,

Im starting to get pretty good at magic now - and just wondered if there was anyway of making a little extra cash?

I was thinking of doing it in the high street - with like a thing for people to put money in if they think im good.

Would this be classed as busking though? and if so id need a licence for that?

Any thoughts?

Does that mean i'm good at magic 'cos all the money i get seems to disappear.

  • Can you get yourself an agent? They would find paid gigs for you. If you busk in the high street you're likely to be moved on unless you can get permission or a licence from the council.

Some magicians busk in Bath, it works pretty well for them.

What /kind/ of magic do you do, though? Close-up card manipulation etc works well for restaurants/table-hopping, but table magic (cups and balls, and card tricks like Oil and Water) works well for busking. Avoid the Monte though, too many overtones of criminality!

Or if you're creative and can design your own effects then you can sell them online - I made a couple of hundred bucks selling some tricks through a US distributor

If you can use magic to make cash that's a pretty good trick.
  • I wanted to book a magician for a party - they all wanted £500 - £750 for an hour so I didn't bother!! So I would say do a reasonably priced party deal and you might be onto a winner!
