Sony DVP-SR200P Region Code

Anyone knows how to unlock the region code on this DVD player? The information I was able to find online is outdated (e.g. the player doesn't respond when I enter 2812 at all, and there is no TOP MENU button on the newer versions anymore) so it doesn't work. I purchased the player this month from a local Walmart.

With the DVD player turned off(stand by), press:
TOP MENU
CLEAR
POWER

Choose option 2 and after option 4. Type:
12450 [press enter]
00000 - Then press enter and power off.

Yep. Unfortunately, the 'old ways' no longer work.

And yes, I have tried MENU instead of TOP MENU -- and that doesn't help either.

It's SONY RMT-D197A.

Slightly strange then as the sony website states that remote isnt with that dvd player

In this case you might have to try one of those universal remotes to do it with.

Strange indeed. Sigh. I guess it'd be easier to return the item then.
