What should I do with the warm air system in my new home?

If this system is in good condition and the water tank is ok and the water is heated by a Janus water heater fitted in the right hand side of the heater unit then i would say that you need to find storage space elsewhere. The whole thing about ditching a hot water tank for a bit of extra storage is just impractical..what is so vital that needs to be stored that would necessitate a new heating system when one isnt needed?
I wouldnt be panicking over asbestos either...Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
In a previous house I had a gas-fired hot-air heating system, which I found quite satisfactory. Admittedly, it was a fairly small house, and I prefer jumpers to high room temperatures. I would suggest living with the hot-air system for a while before deciding whether the expense of replacement is really necessary.0

We thought we would have to get rid of our warm air heating like you when we moved in to our house.
that was 8 years ago now. They are fantastic - no wait for heat, much more efficient that older combi boilers, practically indestructible as not having water in most of the system removes the effect of corrosion etc. No radiators!
Points to be aware - get it serviced, they are not room sealed but perfectly safe if looked after. When you are looking for a gas engineer find one qualified to service warm air, on gas safe's website. If they are not qualified they will try to flog you a new heating system rather than tell you. There will probably be asbestos in the system but it won't be a danger unless it is damaged.
If you are in the northampton area PM me and I will send you our gas man's number.0
