Thank you...you are financially iliterate.I have added both geoffky and Brit1234 on my ignore list. Geoffky is a snob whilst Brit1234 has a wider agenda - he simply wants to see a massive fall in house prices so that he can eventually afford to buyIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

£225,000 for a 2 bed flat in Hayes? :rotfl:
It looks like however all the buy to let Landlords are selling their ex council 2 bed flats there. Also a mass dodgy Firstbuy experiment by Barratts.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

Not wanting to get embroiled in whether or not this is a scam as I don't know enough about it anyway, please read this article from The Guardian, it was also reported on BBC Radio 4 news the previous day. Wish you well in your search for a home.0 -

Haha. In which case you assumed incorrectly. But I rent here and the property and the immediate neighbourhood are very nice.
My sister and BIL bought a rather nice semi in Hayes but sensibly moved to Maidenhead when the area started going downhill and their eldest child was in danger of starting school there. So, I knew Hayes very well. It wasn't a sh!thole once but it is now.0 -

Well im not to far from you own neck of the woods. Every area has its pros and cons. I live in north London (the nice part) and would nevef live in tottenham, enfield and wood green, but thats my opinion as I dont live there.Debt free since birth, although planning to buy my first home in 2012 so bring on the debt!!0
