which is my clio throttle body??

Going on from my last problem of this throttle body, we have had the clio into the garage for the throttle body to be cleaned. This seemed to cure the problem for 30 miles then the warning light reappeared. I think its now time to replace the body with a new or reconditioned part. There seems to be lots kicking around and on ebay. Now ive seen this one

but a little costly. Not so costly if this cures the issue but im sure i can get a part as good as this on ebay for cheaper.

The car in question is Renault Clio Dymanique 16V 1.2 petrol 51 plate, date of Reg 29/01/2002

Looking for a 'expert who can link me a part on ebay or reconditioned elsewhere cheaper than the one (that not sure if correct for this car) linked above.

This issue is a nightmare.

  • Without seeing the car in the flesh, nobody can know for sure especially with french tat where they seemed to like to use two or three different part numbers on the same model for fun. Please read this thread as to why not letting a garage source the parts can cost you a lot of money if you don't have a clue.

I would suggest buying second hand albeit reconditioned is hit or miss. You might be changing out one duff item for another.
    Our money back promise:
We are so sure you will be more than happy with your replacement unit that we will give you your money back if you are not - Units must be returned within 7 days of purchase undamaged in the original packaging.

Sounds good, but you will have to pay for it to be removed send it back and meanwhile your car is off the road and what happens if your problem re-occurs after 7 days?

Best to get a new part fitted by a renault franchised dealer.

  • there seems to be 3 style of throttle body's for the clio.

i cant say for sure witch one you have from your reg date. the numbers on the unit will be the one to get to get an exact match,

they are different in styles totally though

identify your unit. all three have different bore sizes. once youve identyfied your unit (the garage who cleaned it can point wich one out).

with the link you supplyed. call them and ask if that price is inclusive of OLD CORE surcharge, and if so how much is refunded to you for your OLD UNIT.

ebay are hit and miss. a good clean with car cleaner and they look ok, but whether it works is another matter. stick to new or reconditioned with a warranty. may cost you more but for reliability of a working part that way is best.
i would recomend your garage purchase and fit this by almeans show him the website, see what he thinks, get him to contact them see if he can get trade price on it.
